Touring Highways 370 and 2
Wiers Chapel Methodist Church
Another Saturday that turned into a long day's exploration of local points of interest in Union, Tippah and west Alcorn Counties. I started up Birmingham Ridge Road and then on various Union County roads until I hit Highways 9 and 370 heading north. I detoured some to pick up a church here and there, but mainly stuck to Highways 370 and 2.
Highway 2, in particular, is one that you might want to add to your list of scenic highways to explore in Mississippi, along with Highway 5 north of Hickory Flat. They're not Blue Ridge Parkway quality, but for Mississippi's low hill country they're pretty enough and offer some nice side roads that take you back into the area's past.
As always, I wanted to take more time to explore - especially in and around Dumas, which is a pretty area.
